Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Connector to join our team, providing leadership and guidance to Connectors and Specialist Connectors. The successful candidate will have experience in coaching, mentoring, and building relationships with diverse groups, particularly young people. This pivotal role makes a significant contribution to the transformation of the disability system, enabling disabled people and their whanau to have more choice and control over their lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to Connectors and Specialist Connectors to increase their skills and confidence in supporting disabled people and their whanau.
  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships with a diverse range of people, including Maori, Pasifika, Rainbow (LGBTI+) people, and those new to New Zealand or Deaf culture.
  • Work collaboratively with teams to develop relationships with disabled people and their whanau, assisting them to plan and direct their own lives.
  • Support disabled people and their whanau to think creatively about their life opportunities and bring these opportunities into being.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles.
  • Experience supporting people to think creatively about their life opportunities and how to bring these opportunities into being.
  • Previous experience coaching, mentoring, and managing the workflow of teams.
  • Strong connections to and knowledge of the local community, as well as the capacity and resources within it.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt your method of communicating to the situation and person.
