About this Role

This position plays a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by:

  1. Identifying patterns or contributing factors that may influence learning, well-being, and behavior.
  2. Enhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools, and educational settings.
  3. Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers, and families, building their capacity to support children and young people.
  4. Conducting in-depth specialist assessments and analyses for evidence-informed interventions.
  5. Collaborating with a trans-disciplinary team to address complex needs.

Salary: $85,416-$121,466 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed based on individual skills and experience.

Requirements

To succeed, you must:

  1. Be a New Zealand Registered Psychologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act and hold a current practicing certificate or be registered as an Intern.
  2. Translate specialist knowledge into practical information.
  3. Coordinate service provision in a multi-agency setting.
  4. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
  5. Understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
  6. Adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Learning Support is part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in Te Mahau. We lead the education sector in supporting children and young people with additional learning needs to achieve their full potential.

Our specialists work closely with families, whānau, caregivers, schools, and agencies to maximize learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.
