We're actively growing and seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Auckland. This individual will help us make Termius the primary work instrument for many engineers in their daily routines.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a backend engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in Python is essential.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) is required.
  • Building RESTful APIs is a must.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes) is necessary.
  • Experience with Docker is required.
  • Django experience is highly valued.
  • Solid understanding of system design principles (e.g., scalability, security) is crucial.
  • Version control systems (e.g., Git) are fundamental.
  • Passion for product development and enhancing user experience is vital.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Good communication skills in English (both written and verbal) are necessary.
  • Availability for sync meetings from 4-6 pm New Zealand Time (NZT) is expected.
Optional but Welcomed
  • Experience with SSH protocol and network engineering can be beneficial.
Responsibilities at Termius
  • Independently manage all stages of application development, shape requirements, and lead engineering projects relating to the Termius backend.
  • Share responsibility for testing, releasing, and maintaining the backend codebase and related developer tools and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to influence product development.
  • Communicate effectively with users to understand their needs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure their success with our platform.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges to optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure high code quality throughout the codebase.
  • Automate tasks and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline development workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and fix complex backend and infrastructure issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies and trends.
