Talent is a professional services organisation dedicated to empowering Māori landowners. We are seeking a senior-level Communications Manager to join our team, who can shape and enhance our communications function, aligning it with our vision and objectives.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing strategic communications initiatives that align with our business priorities. This Communications Manager role will involve building and leading a small, high-performing communications team, taking an active role in recruitment, team, and culture development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Comprehensive Communications Strategies: Create and implement comprehensive communications plans that align with our business objectives.
  • Manage a Small Team: Build and lead a small, high-performing communications team, taking an active role in recruitment, team, and culture development.
  • Enhance Internal and External Communications: Proactively engage with our wider organisation, identifying opportunities to enhance our internal and external communications.
  • Analyse and Interpret Data: Collect, analyse, and interpret data to support reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Stakeholder Engagement: Drive formal stakeholder engagement planning to strengthen key relationships critical to our mission.
  • Support Organisational Change: Support major organisational change, particularly within IT/digital transformation, leveraging communications to facilitate engagement and adoption.

Requirements:

  • Senior-level experience in communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Proven success in developing and executing communication strategies
  • Strong leadership skills, with prior management experience ideal, but also welcome applications from those with team leadership experience ready to step up
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to advise at the executive level
  • Strong relationship management skills, with ability to identify, engage, and influence key stakeholders
  • A proactive, inquisitive mindset, with genuine passion for communications and its potential to drive positive impact

Māori Competency:

  • Pae Toru - Te Mau me Te Whakahoki: An understanding of Te Reo Māori, with ability to engage in conversation
  • Pae Toru - Te Aro Wairua: A deep understanding and embodiment of Tikanga Māori at an Ao Wairua level, including knowledge and practice of karanga, whaikorero, whakapapa, karakia tahito, and moteatea
