Lead Regional Heritage Projects and Deliver Exceptional Results

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our team as a National Heritage Project Manager. In this role, you will lead and manage significant heritage projects that make a lasting impact.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of national project reporting to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Leadership in planning, management, and successful delivery of significant regional heritage projects.
  • Support for Ranger Project Lead Heritage staff and regional teams in their responsibilities for managing heritage projects.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and externally to achieve project outcomes.

We are looking for an individual with proven experience in project management, including working knowledge of different methodologies such as Prince2 and PMP. You will excel as an expert in your field, with demonstrable experience in supporting others and being the go-to person when required.

Excellent engagement and communications abilities, with experience working with whanau, hapu, and iwi, are essential. A solid understanding of heritage conservation principles, policies, and best practices, along with experience in managing budgets, reporting, and project governance, is also required.

A passion for Te Papa Atawhai's kaupapa and an understanding of the Maori Crown relationship and the ability to apply or willingness to learn tikanga and te reo Maori in the workplace are essential. DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.
