The role of a Psychiatry Registrar at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora involves working as part of a team of dedicated and experienced Consultants, Registrars, House Officers, and Nursing and Allied Health professionals across various runs. These include Emergency Psychiatry Services, Youth Specialty Services, Early Intervention Service, Specialist Addiction Service, Forensic Psychiatry, Consultant Liaison, Mental Health for Older People, Intellectual Disability, General Adult Community Services, General Adult wards, Child and Family, and Ashburn Clinic.

This is a training registrar role that allows you to gain valuable experience in psychiatric care while being supported by experienced mentors and supervisors. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of patients and develop your skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

As a Psychiatry Registrar, you will be responsible for participating in ward rounds, attending multidisciplinary meetings, and contributing to patient care plans. You will also have opportunities to develop your teaching and leadership skills through participation in educational programs and mentorship activities.

We welcome applications from candidates who are registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligible for general or provisional general registration. A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience and a strong interest in Psychiatry are also required.
