We are the leading air navigation services provider in New Zealand, responsible for managing the country's airspace and providing air traffic control, surveillance, communication, flight inspection, mapping, and airspace design services.

Our organisation is structured into operational business groups supported by governance and corporate services functions. The Technology business unit delivers technology disciplines within the air navigation services environment, including engineering design, software development, technology architecture, asset management, installation and maintenance, technical training, workload planning, maintenance program development, project management, and logistics support.

The Air Traffic Services Development (ATSD) unit provides safe and reliable Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems to our Service Delivery group. ATSD offers enhancement and problem-fixing capability as well as operational support and adaptation.

As an Oceanic Systems Team Leader at Airways, you will report to the Air Traffic Services Development Manager and lead the requirements and acceptance testing for the Oceanic ATS operational systems. You will work with your team to find and assess issues with the system and deploy releases into the live operational environment.

You will also be responsible for maintaining an overview of current Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS)/Air Traffic Management (ATM) system developments in the international aviation community. This includes anticipating and evaluating enhancements for Airways' Oceanic Control System (OCS) and identifying opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the requirements and acceptance testing for the Oceanic ATS operational systems
  • Working with the team to find and assess issues with the system and deploying releases into the live operational environment
  • Maintaining an overview of current CNS/ATM system developments in the international aviation community
