We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Support Specialist to join our team at the Canterbury District Health Board.

About the Role:

This is a fixed-term part-time position working 36 hours per week until December 2025. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for carrying out work to Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury standards for booking practices, ensuring Ministry of Health Guidelines are followed, and maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

You will also be typing and uploading patient referrals and reports, ensuring all information is collated, and patient records are complete and managed. This role requires excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to achieve high levels of accuracy and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out work to Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury standards (and Ministry of Health targets) for booking practices
  • Ensuring Ministry of Health Guidelines are followed
  • Typing and uploading patient referrals and reports
  • Ensuring all information is collated, patient records are complete and managed
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy
