The New Zealand Government is seeking an experienced professional to join the Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga team as a Lead Advisor, Te Reo Māori Workforce Supply and Leadership.

This pivotal role plays a critical part in shaping the future of education in New Zealand by ensuring Aotearoa has the right educators and leaders supported and thriving nationwide.

The successful candidate will provide intellectual and thought leadership, significantly contributing to the overall purpose of Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga, a government agency supporting the education sector on a national, regional, and local level.

About This Role

As a key member of the Te Reo Māori Workforce Supply & Leadership team, you will craft and refine current strategies/initiatives, delivering solutions to ensure timely, well-placed, and skilled teacher availability across Aotearoa.

You will work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for the education workforce and its leaders, focusing on specialist services, employment relations, pay equity, and more.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in leading national change initiatives, policy or service design, and the ability to present complex information in easy-to-digest formats.

About You

We are looking for someone with a passion for te reo Māori revitalization, school leadership, and a desire to improve opportunities for ākonga to learn in and through te reo Māori.

The successful candidate should be curious, a critical thinker, and a problem solver, with sharp business writing and presentation skills, as well as the ability to guide and develop a professional team.

You will also possess a deep understanding of the machinery of government and government operations generally, as well as the ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
