Job Description

In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with our community, working closely with families and collaborating with other social services to ensure a cohesive approach in meeting their needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Listening to the voices of children and young people, supporting them and their families in making positive changes.
  • Collaborating with various cultural groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Conducting initial safety checks and assessments on children, young people, and families.
  • Facilitating hui and empowering families to enhance their capacity for caring for children and young people.
  • Participating in the planning of interventions to keep children and young people within their families.
  • Partnering with community stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies.
  • Advocating on behalf of children and young people to ensure they receive the support and resources needed to thrive.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team in Paeroa. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality services to our clients, including assessment, case management, and advocacy.

You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including children, young people, and families, and to develop and implement effective interventions to address their needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Social Worker with a recognized qualification and registration with the Social Work Registration Board.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families, preferably in a rural or community-based setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership.
  • Valid full driver's license and reliable vehicle.
