About the Role

Transforming the future of health in a dynamic Public Health Nurse role. This challenging position involves delivering public health nursing services across the community, focusing on assessment of population health, multiple determinants of health, primary prevention, and evidence-based practice.

About the Team/Service

The public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, working towards Pae Ora by engaging with wider health determinants, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

About You

You possess advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking, and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to the top of your scope. Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse and 3+ years clinical experience are required.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver public health nursing services across the community
- Assess population health, attention to multiple determinants of health, and emphasis on primary prevention
- Engage with wider health determinants to promote oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse
- 3+ years clinical experience, Authorised Vaccinator or interest in completing training
- High level of clinical expertise and clinical judgement, particularly when working with children and adolescents
- Hold a currently assessed nursing portfolio via an approved Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP)
- Child and Adolescent health-related experience and family planning experience
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously in a rural setting
- Proven experience and competence using Patient Management Systems
