NZSL Immersion Specialist

Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education New Zealand is seeking a passionate and dedicated NZSL day school teacher to join our collaborative team.
This is a part-time, fixed-term opportunity for the 2025 school year and is based at Linden School. The successful candidate will contribute to a NZSL-rich learning environment, supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum, Ko Taku Reo extended curriculum, IEP goals, and NZSL language development.
- Collaborate with the NZSL Day School Lead and Resource Teachers of the Deaf (RTDs) to create effective teaching practices.
- Provide day-to-day support for students attending the NZSL Immersion Day School, ensuring their wellbeing and access to learning.
- Liaise with partner schools to create connections between Day School curriculum and students' local school learning.
- Communicate with parents and whānau as needed to ensure full inclusion in the learning experience.
Requirements:
- A qualified teacher with experience in Deaf education and/or NZSL learning environments.
- Proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with students, staff, whānau, and partner schools.
- A commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and accessibility.
