Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team as Workshop Manager. This role involves managing a team of diesel mechanics, performing proactive and active maintenance, and reporting directly to the Depot Manager. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the workshop, involving both diesel and petrol motors, with future opportunities in electric vehicles as we transition to a more sustainable fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of diesel mechanics to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles
  • Perform proactive and active maintenance tasks, including routine servicing and repairs
  • Report directly to the Depot Manager, providing updates on workshop activities and performance
RequirementsSkills and Qualifications
  • NZQA Level 4 Heavy Automotive Qualification or equivalent automotive workshop experience
  • Current New Zealand Drivers' License Class 1 (ideally up to C4)
  • Experience managing staff and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices
Personal Qualities
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 25kgs
  • Tech-savvy and able to adapt to new technologies
