Protecting and preserving our cultural heritage is a cornerstone of our organisation's mission. As a National Heritage Project Manager at the Department of Conservation, you will play a pivotal role in supporting, leading, and delivering regional heritage projects across the country.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Wellington or Christchurch, with other locations possible for suitable candidates. The successful applicant will have proven significant experience in project management, with a working knowledge of different methodologies such as Prince2 and PMP.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversight of national project reporting for the National Cultural Heritage Fund, tracking progress, identifying risks, escalating to the appropriate teams, and ensuring compliance with procurement, project management, and heritage policies and guidelines.
  • Leading the planning, management, and successful delivery of significant regional heritage projects.
  • Supporting Ranger Project Lead Heritage staff and regional teams in their responsibilities for managing heritage projects.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and externally to achieve project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in project management with a strong track record of delivering results.
  • Excellent engagement and communications abilities, with experience working with whānau, hapū, and iwi.
  • A solid understanding of heritage conservation principles, policies, and best practices.
  • Experience in managing budgets, reporting, and project governance.
  • Proficient user of MS Office and relevant project management tools.
