Food Regulatory Specialist

About the Role
This exciting opportunity allows you to join a growing team within New Zealand Food Safety, responsible for managing urgent food safety issues and enforcing compliance with food safety legislation.
As a key member of the Food Compliance Services group, you will work closely with Public Health Units, local Councils, and industry stakeholders to investigate non-compliances, respond to food incidents, and support food businesses in recalling products.
You will be an integral part of the Liaison and Coordination team, working alongside experienced professionals to collect, analyze, and report on data related to food safety trends and breaches of legislation.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, analytical abilities, and a strong understanding of the food industry. They will be proactive, autonomous, and have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to create actionable insights from complex data sets.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing regular reports on Food Compliance's work programs and taking ownership of reporting schedules and planning
- Extracting data from the Information Leader database and presenting findings in a clear, concise manner
- Analyzing quantitative and qualitative information to identify key themes, insights, and patterns associated with complaints and recalls
About You
We are seeking a skilled professional who can contribute to the success of our organization. The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications, proficiency in data analysis, and experience working with operational databases. They will be a team player, able to collaborate across different teams and working styles, and possess excellent relationships-building skills.
