*Investment Executive 2024 Brokerage Report Card. The opportunity: Reporting to Investment Advisors, the Tax & Estate Planner is responsible for providing advanced tax planning services for ultra-high-net-worth clients and their families.
The Tax & Estate Planner will leverage their industry experience and professional knowledge to provide comprehensive tax and estate planning solutions.
Key responsibilities include: Tax Planning & ComplianceServe as subject matter expert on sophisticated trust, estate and income tax questions and issues for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.Meet with existing and potential clients to provide tax and estate planning.Demonstrate a consultative and collaborative value-added approach in client conversations, acting as a subject matter expert to facilitate the desired client experience.Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of tax planning for ultra-high-net-worth clients, including those with cross-border assets.Develop and maintain relationships with Centers of Influence.External Investment Tracking & Consolidated ReportingMonitor private equity, hedge funds, direct investments and real estate holdings.Generate consolidated statements and portfolio reviews that aggregate all financial assets across different entities and structures.Collaborate and work closely with client's other professional advisors in the spirit of delivering holistic advice and managing tax compliance.Produce written reports and wealth plans for complex client situations, advising on tax, estate and other wealth planning opportunities, strategies and issues.Financial Planning & ProjectionsDevelop cash flow models to project future liquidity needs and investment funding.Scenario planning for major capital events (e.g.
business sales, estate transfers).Aligning asset allocation with long-term financial goals & risk tolerance.Provide advanced taxation and estate planning and other financial planning support.The ideal candidate will possess: A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or similar field of study.3-5 years' experience in an accounting role required.Proficient in personal, trust and corporate taxation.Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required.Experience working with ultra-high-net-worth clients an asset.Cross-border tax experience an asset.Experience with Salesforce or Croesus an asset.Experience with Conquest an asset.Proficiency with the MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.An ability to keep up to date with Canada's overall economic and financial environment, current events and changes as well as changes to legislation related to income tax and wealth transfer planning.Demonstrate a commitment to ethical conduct and integrity ensuring all client interactions are handled with professionalism and trustworthiness.Bring an excellent attitude and a dedication to extraordinary service, consistently exceeding expectations.Excel in interpersonal and relationship-building skills, communicating effectively and collaborating seamlessly across various mediums, whether in person, over the phone, or virtually.Showcase exceptional problem-solving abilities, tackling challenges with creativity and confidence.Maintain strong organizational skills, keeping tasks and priorities in order to drive efficiency.Excel in dynamic environments and adapt to change with ease, managing a high volume of competing priorities while maintaining focus.Exhibit critical thinking and outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to deliver clear and impactful messages.Uphold the highest levels of confidentiality, safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring trust in every interaction.Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day-to-day work and long-term goals.A high tolerance for change; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities.Conditions of employment: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.A background check, satisfactory to the employer, may be required of the successful applicant prior to commencing employment.Wellington-Altus Private Wealth is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community and welcomes applications from women, racialized persons, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and genders.
