Reporting directly to the CEO, the Group Manager – Operations will lead and optimise operational support functions, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation.With a broad and strategic remit, you will be responsible for driving business growth, operational resilience, and financial sustainability.
This includes leading key operational functions such as procurement, facilities, transport, and logistics, ensuring seamless service delivery, process optimisation, and cost control.
You will also ensure that operational functions align with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and organisational objectives.Health & Safety is a core responsibility of this role, requiring strong leadership to ensure an embedded, proactive safety culture.
You will own the H&S strategy, ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, oversee risk management, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices.
This includes Board-level reporting and accountability for Health & Safety performance across all sites.As part of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring Pathlab's operational functions remain resilient, adaptable, and aligned with strategic objectives.What We're Looking ForWe are seeking an experienced and commercially minded operational leader with a proven track record in healthcare, laboratory services, or a similarly complex and regulated industry.
This role requires someone who can balance high-level strategic thinking with hands-on day-to-day operational execution.What You Will BringIdeally, you will:Have extensive senior leadership experience in operational management within a healthcare, medical laboratory, or other regulated service industry.Be a strong strategist, with the ability to define and execute long-term operational plans that align with business objectives.Have expertise in process optimisation, automation, procurement, logistics, and system integration to drive efficiency and service excellence.Demonstrate extensive Health & Safety leadership experience.Bring a strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and capital expenditure planning.Have experience leading change management and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the organisation evolves in line with industry best practice.Be a highly effective communicator, skilled in stakeholder engagement at all levels, including executive teams, regulatory bodies, and external partners.Be a resilient and adaptable leader, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.Pathlab is a New Zealand-owned and operated medical diagnostic laboratory, providing essential testing services to the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Lakes regions.
