The Bids team sits in a growing BD & Marketing function tasked with driving the business forward towards Ambition 27 – an ambitious strategic vision which is underpinning significant double digit growth.
You'll be joining at a crucial time for the business and will work in a dynamic Bids team who are involved in every new major business development opportunity.
Working alongside an established Bids Manager you will be given early opportunity to lead on the delivery of bids and tenders, responding to PQQ invitations, involvement in major bids and taking responsibility for preparing winning proposals across a wide range of specialist sectors.
You'll also collaborate with the team on to introduce and constantly develop best practice bid processes and take ownership of the production of our informal proposals & credentials documents.
You'll oversee and maintain a central library of firm information including firm experience and be responsible for the upkeep of our credentials document creation system (BigHand Pitching & Proposals).
This is a prominent and hands-on role which provides excellent opportunities for personal development and career progression.
Duties and responsibilities:Project management and delivery of formal / complex bids, attending and chairing meetings or workshops, owning and delivering assigned submission components.Evaluating the opportunity, providing professional insight on the bid / no bid process, developing a win strategy, liaising with the finance team on pricing, managing the submission and relevant stakeholders.Working with our partners and associates on the creation of tailored client proposals, advising on optimal approach and helping to guide discussions on content.Improving our pursuit and pipeline management, gathering market intelligence and leveraging data from our new CRM to help the firm to understand which opportunities are on the horizon and to actively pursue opportunities before the tender arrives.You'll manage and update the asset bank of firm texts, firm experience, fee earner biographies, testimonials, awards etc., ensuring colleagues throughout the firm have access to the most up to date information.Reporting on the team's contribution to the firm's strategyBringing continuous improvements and workflow innovation.Supporting and mentoring a talented Bid Executive.Skills, personal attributes and experience:Experience of working in a bids / business development team, ideally in legal or similar professional services.Knowledge and experience of best practices in bidding, including bid processes, evaluation of opportunities, developing win strategies, project management, commercial acumen (including pricing and risk).Working with technical authors to convert knowledge into high scoring answers.A creative mindset with a desire to help our lawyers stand-out through the look and feel of our proposals as well as the quality of the propositionRobust time and project management, with the required ability to manage and prioritise busy workloads.Ability to communicate effectively, with a confidence to constructively challenge and influence senior lawyers.Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.A good eye for detail: strong design and layout skills are advantageous.Strong knowledge of all MS packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Experience of Adobe InDesign and basic knowledge of print process is an advantage.A flexible approach to working hours and travel to the office to meet the demands of a project.A positive, solutions based problem solving mindset.Company ValuesOur shared values represent our culture and the things that are important to us.
