Join our Energy and Decarbonisation team within Facilities Management at the University of Canterbury as an Energy and Carbon Graduate and help shape a more sustainable futureAu Mahi | What You Will DoAs an Energy and Carbon Graduate, you'll work alongside experts in energy management and decarbonisation, contributing to projects that optimise energy use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance sustainability across our campus.
Reporting to the Energy Manager, this two-year fixed-term role offers hands-on experience in energy audits, performance benchmarking, and carbon reporting while supporting UC's goal of achieving net carbon neutrality (Scopes 1 & 2) by 2030.Duties include:Assisting in developing and implementing energy, carbon, and water use reduction initiatives.Conducting energy audits, data analysis, and benchmark energy performance across buildings.Supporting behaviour change initiatives in partnership with the Sustainability team.Contributing to policy development and sustainable design strategies for campus buildings.Promoting awareness and training programs on energy conservation and sustainability.You will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (BE Hons or ME) or a relevant field as well as:Good knowledge of energy management, GHG emissions, and sustainability principles.Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, databases, or energy management systems).Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project feasibility.Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.Passion for carbon reduction and environmental sustainability.Knowledge of environmental standards (ISO 50001, ISO 14064, GHG Protocol) is an advantage but not essential.An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.The closing date for this position is: 30 March 2024 (midnight, NZ time)Please note, applications will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews may take place before the close date.Applications for this position must be submitted via our careers website and should include a cover letter and resume.Please note, we do not accept applications by email, however we are happy to answer your queries in relation to the application process, please forward these to ****** must have Aotearoa New Zealand or Australian citizenship/permanent residency to be considered for this role.
