And we're after more characters like you to come and join usWhat's the job?InterGroup are New Zealand's Infrastructure and Industrial Services specialists, delivering services in waste management, industrial services, coatings, and infrastructure. You may not have heard of us, but we do a lot – and we've got aspirations to be number one in every area we deliver. The only thing stopping us is needing more people That's where you come in, are you up for the challenge? The main focus of your role will be:The removal of marine growth, corrosion, and coatings.Cleaning surfaces including hulls, decks, and flight decks.Cleaning of pipes, ducting, tubes, engine rooms, boilers, plant, etc. - all using abrasive blasting, HP (high pressure up to 4,000psi), and UHP ultra-high pressure water blasting up to 40,000 psi. You'll benefit from:A hands-on training program with a wide range of courses, e.g., obtaining a BOSIET license to travel offshore.A welcoming, helpful team – our characters are down to earth and all willing to muck in to give each other a hand - everyone feels like they belong here.Heaps of development and opportunities for growth.True health and safety – you'll never have to work in an unsafe environment or in a situation where you feel uncomfortable. The chance to work on iconic projects that have helped your communities, such as cleaning/restoring a Naval ship to become a fishing trawler in a rural community, maintaining the harbor bridge, and keeping stormwater drains clear to prevent flooding. Are you the right fit? You'll be a character who's always wanting to learn and grow. Your voice matters here, and you'll be empowered to make decisions, not just take directions. We're hoping you'll be a team player, ready to join our awesome team who look after each other and have each other's backs. Previous experience in the marine industry is not a pre-requisite; we are willing to train the right person. This role will require the person to travel offshore and hence a BOSIET license would be ideal, but we will support you in obtaining this. The technical stuff you'll need includes:Minimum 1 year experience using high pressure water blasting, abrasive blasting, and spray-painting equipment to prepare surfaces. The ability to apply protective coatings to surfaces.Proven knowledge and training of health and safety in the industrial environment.A high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in a confined space from time to time.Ideally, proven experience in a marine environment and working inside and outside of marine vessels.Proactive thinking and behavior.A can-do attitude. This role will provide a challenging yet rewarding work experience.
