Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About The RoleThe Associate Charge Nurse role will assist and work collaboratively with the Charge Nurse Manager in the establishment and promotion of clinical nursing professional standards.
This role will also work as part of the Senior Leadership team with Charge Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist.This role provides clinical leadership, monitors and mitigates risk, actively engages in quality initiatives and manages the day-to-day functioning of the unit to ensure delivery of safe patient focused care.
Staff education is also an integral function of this role.
This position may involve shift work, including working weekends depending on ward needs but would generally encompass Monday to Friday hours.About the Team/Service/LocationTe Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities.

Post Graduate qualifications in Mental Health are highly desirable, or to be working towards these.Your proven success in nursing leadership will be complemented by your knowledge of, and experience in, clinical quality, safety and best practice.Our ideal candidate will:Hold a relevant qualification minimum Post Graduate certificateHave strong clinical leadership skills, and ability to work as part of a teamExcellent communication skills including conflict resolutionHave strong problem solving skillsAbility to develop staffCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
