The Department of Conservation is searching for our next Supervisor to lead and coach a small team of Treaty Implementation and Community Rangers and deliver on critical statutory work across the Tamaki Makaurau region.
This role will see your passion for conservation shine as you deliver key conservation work across the region and will focus on:
enabling your team to function effectively, ensuring staff safety, wellbeing and development is prioritisedcommunicating with internal and external stakeholders about the key work programmes and ensuring priority work is deliveredworking collaboratively with whanau, hapu and iwi to understand their aspirations and needs in relation to delivery of workensuring the delivery of statutory work in the region, including permission applications, Treaty settlement commitments and other statutory obligations.This is a full time, 12-month fixed term position whilst the incumbent is on parental leave.
It is an office role which can be based in Auckland CBD or Warkworth, with flexible working options available.

We're looking for someone who has some experience in engaging effectively in a Te Ao Maori setting or is willing to develop their capability in this space.

An understanding and connection to the concepts of Te Ao Maori, tikanga and whakapapa.Proven leadership abilities and ability to mentor and manage staffCommitment to excellence – sets high personal and professional standards; assumes responsibility and accountability for the success of the team.Strong computer literacy, proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and cloud-based computing.Strong critical thinking and analysis skills, along with an ability to navigate and balance differing perspectives in relation to Department goals and policies.Proven health and safety focus and visitor risk identification and management.A passion for conservation.An understanding of the work of the Department and how it contributes to New Zealand's future sustainability.An understanding of relevant legislation and its application through statutory tasks.Full New Zealand driver licence, including the ability to drive a manual vehicle.DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.
