A Wellington CBD based client is looking for a highly skilled Principal Payroll Advisor to join and support the Payroll Manager and the overall delivery of the payroll function as the organisation navigates its way through a complex remediation project.About The RoleIn this role you will be joining the payroll team as their 2iC, and the key responsibilities are as follows:Support the Payroll Manager through workflow management of the payroll team, being the first port of call for queries and the escalation point for issues within the team.Support the provision of BAU payroll through peer reviewing the work of the payroll team to ensure timeliness and accuracy of their payroll processing.Support the overpayment management process by reviewing calculations to ensure that they're correct and follow best practice.Manage the payroll inbox, assist with delegating work and prioritising workload as required.
In conjunction with this monitor the Issues Log and ensure that escalations are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.Analyse common escalations and issues raised for key themes, reporting these back to the Payroll Manager and help with identification of potential fixes to rectify the issue.Action both regular and ad-hoc payroll reporting requests and requirements, and develop new reports as required for commonly requested data by customers.Work with the project team to support the prioritisation of pay and leave audits for future leavers, as well as implementation of interim measures for BAU to reduce ongoing issues.Be back up to the payroll team where required due to leave.About YouThe ideal candidate will have significant experience in a Senior Payroll Advisory role, or potentially even in a Payroll Team Lead/Management position.
Additionally, the following experience is desirable:Sound payroll and associated legislative knowledge, and a comfort in being the SME and point of escalation for all payroll related issues.Experience in mentoring and developing payroll staff.Experience in a change environment.The ability to cope under pressure and work within strict timeframes to a high degree of accuracy.Fantastic analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.BenefitsIn return you will join a small but high functioning payroll team during an exciting period of change.
