Electron is one of the world's most frequently-launched rockets, and our team behind its success are diligent, move fast, and have each other's back to deliver a reliable rocket to the launch pad time and time again.WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:The Leading Hand– Mechanical is responsible for the quality and output of all work that is conducted within the Mechanical Production work centre.
Focusing on the day-to-day task allocation, the Leading Hand ensures that productivity is maximised to enable delivery to be achieved on schedule, without compromising on safety or quality.Leading a team of up to 10 technicians to assemble and test Electron and spacecraft assemblies to achieve the engineering specification, the Leading Hand is responsible for executing continuous improvement and undertaking basic root cause analysis to implement production related corrective action plans.The Leading Hand will plan and lead daily activities to meet quality and schedule as set by the Supervisor, including:Manage roster, overtime and leave requests to ensure sufficient technician coverage is available to support the scheduleResponsible for assigning workflow and delegating day-to-day tasks of assembly and test techniciansProvide immediate constructive feedback on performance and workmanshipAssist with interviewing new candidates, including supervising practical competency tests.Manage the team's skills matrix ensuring required training is carried out to develop the skill level of the team.Authorise training and certification of other team members.Run regular meetings to align the team to wider production requirements.YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:NZ High School diploma, NCEA Level 2 or equivalentMinimum 5 years of senior level hands-on experience in a relevant industryDemonstrated ability to ensure safety and quality standards as well as production targets are met in a high-paced and demanding environmentIf you meet all or some of the requirements apply now
