* Provide thought leadership and senior policy expertise on Wai 2575, other kaupapa inquiries, and Waitangi Tribunal claims within health and across government.
* Collaborate with the Ministry, public sector agencies, and Crown Law to prepare evidence supporting pae ora (healthy futures) for Maori.
* Apply cultural intelligence and deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to ensure equity for Maori and Treaty obligations are prioritized in all work.
* Manage and evaluate risks, issues, and progress for kaupapa inquiries, ensuring effective monitoring and delivery of work programmes.
* Build strong, collaborative relationships across the Ministry, health sector, government, and external stakeholders to advance kaupapa inquiry objectives.
Ko pukenga - What you'll bring * Knowledge and significant experience in tribunal inquiries, treaty settlement relationships, treaty partnerships, or a relevant field * Proven ability to operate in Te Ao Maori contexts, including understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Maori * In depth understanding and experience of applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the context of the health sector * Proven experience of Maori relationship dynamics, experience building and maintaining highly effective relationships with whanau, hapu, iwi and Maori communities and entities, within the Ministry's Te Tiriti framework for the health and disability system * Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experience and significant stakeholder, iwi and Maori relations experience Ko wai matou - About us At Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance.

Our team leads the Crown response to the Health Services and Outcomes Inquiry - Wai 2575.
This includes the upcoming Mental health phase of Wai 2575, priority hearings into the disestablishment of Te Aka Whai Ora and the Smokefree legislation.
