We have a great opportunity for an experienced project manager/works officer to drive the delivery of projects in the North Island.
You will manage a variety of infrastructure projects, ranging from new builds, refurbishments and renewals of visitor assets, biodiversity assets, roading assets and property assets.
You will work as part of a small team to successfully deliver projects to planned scope, time, and budget.
The position will be focussed on:
providing project management services including procurement planning, engaging, and managing consultants, obtaining consents, tendering, and managing construction contractsusing DOC's Project Management Framework in support of all project deliverables including business case development to secure funding to deliver projects, governance reporting, proactive change managementmanaging all the technical aspects of this project such as monitoring risk and analysis, coordinating design, managing supplier relationships, maintaining project documentation, project finance and monitoring reportingfollowing best practice in the procurement, tender, contract, and supplier management processmaintaining stakeholder engagement throughout the project including providing updates and leading stakeholder meetings.
This role will not be attached to a region; flexibility will be required to deliver projects in various locations but relative proximity to their home base location will be considered.

You will work well within a team being happy to get out and about and build relationships with operations teams, consultants, contractors, stakeholders, and iwi.
This role will build on your previous project management experience ideally from the public sector in construction.
Ideally, you will have:
a qualification and/or relevant experience in construction or project/contract managementexperience delivering projects in at least one of the categories: visitor assets, biodiversity assets, roading assets, property assetsthe ability to develop and maintain relationships and work as part of a high functioning teamknowledge and practice of capital and operational budget management within the context of project deliveryan understanding of, or experience with, applying for statutory consents such as resource or building consentsdemonstrated competency in managing health and safety aspects of physical works including preparation of safety plans, reviews of Safety in Design registers, documentation auditing and site works auditingexperience working in partnership with iwi/whanau/hapuexperience writing concise and clear documentation such as business cases, memorandums, decision papers, procurement and contract documentscompetency in procurement, engagement and oversight of contractors delivering infrastructure worksthe ability to manage your workload, often with competing deadlines and prioritiesa current full New Zealand driver licence is required.

The recently formed Asset Delivery Team is responsible for delivering a range of infrastructure projects.
Team members are based in district offices around the motu.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 - $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
