About the role | Ko te mahi nei Your work will be varied, challenging, and expose you to a wide and unique range of planning issues across the City and Banks Peninsula, including opportunities to grow expertise in specific areas.
Additionally, you will provide:
Expert planning advice to our customers, liaise with experts, and provide recommendations on notified and non-notified applications (including land use, subdivision, and notices of requirement).Manage complex applications, providing pre-app advice, attending hearings, and taking appeals to the Environment Court.Make robust decisions on resource consent applications and will act as a mentor to less experienced planners, with coaching being a core component of the role.As we're a large Territorial Authority, you'll be part of a diverse team of peers who enjoy the work environment and opportunities at Christchurch City Council.
We're looking for someone with:
A degree in urban/regional planning, resource management or similar which is recognised by the New Zealand Planning Institute (in terms of eligibility for full membership of the Institute).A comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the Resource Management Act, District Plans and the wider planning framework, and demonstrated experience in the resource consent process.Desire to develop your leadership skills.What's in it for you?

Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Position - Permanent Location- This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street Salary-Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
