Nga korero mo te turanga – About the roleThe University is situated in the Waikato, a region with strong agricultural industries, serviced by a wide range of engineering companies from stainless steel fabrication to robotic packaging systems.
There also are aerospace, electronic products, building products, hydraulics, mining, infrastructure and energy companies.This is an opportunity to join a growing School, offering modern and innovative engineering programmes and help grow and shape Mechanical Engineering as a discipline at the University.
You will be expected to teach at all levels within the degree programme, lead the development of an appropriate research area, supervise postgraduate students, and attract external funding to support your research speciality.
Knowledge of designing complex mechanical/mechatronic machinery, engineering design process, computer aided design (CAD) and advanced production methods is essential.Salary will be in the range of $87,500 to $99,202 per year pro rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.
This will be fixed term for 3 years based on the current organisational needs.

– Who are you?You will have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a research record and or industry experience that complements or is related to relevant research activities and interests in the School of Engineering.
These currently include light alloy manufacturing and composite materials, energy and water sustainability, agricultural robotics and sensors, and smart infrastructure.Prior experience supervising student design projects is highly desirable and a commitment to project-based learning is essential.Don't meet every single requirement?
