The Bachelor of Maori Performing Arts (Nga Mana Whakairo a Toi) programme is a three-year degree that aims to produce kaihaka who are valued repositories of matauranga Maori, Te Reo Maori, tikanga Maori and Maori performing arts and ensure graduates have the matauranga and skill base fully recognised within Maori communities.
We are looking for two enthusiastic Lecturers to join our experienced team.
You will assist with student learning by teaching at scheduled monthly weekend noho and wananga, providing regular tutorials and supporting student learning through the use of our online e-Wananga facility.
Your primary responsibility will be to plan and implement quality teaching and learning experiences for students.
This will include setting relevant, appropriate and timely assessments, and providing academic support and pastoral care, with a strong focus on student success and achievement.
You will also be required to develop and maintain relationships with kapa and their Kapa Kaiako.
Applicants will have: Demonstrated excellence in Maori performing arts at all levels and to the highest level.A Masters' degree qualification relevant to the field of Matauranga Maori and an undergraduate qualification in Maori Performing Arts or at least 5 years' experience in teaching Maori Performing Arts.
Those applicants who do not hold a completed Masters' degree but can evidence commencement of study towards a Masters' are also encouraged to apply for this role.Tertiary teaching experience to Masters' level.A teaching qualification.Experience in delivery of the prescribed course and programme, particularly in the discipline of Maori Performing Arts.Knowledge of tikanga Maori, and fluency in Te Reo Maori.We offer a supportive working environment and welcome candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
