About the Role Are you a payroll professional looking for a challenge in a new and dynamic environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Maui as a Payroll Specialist.
As a vital part of the Payroll & People and Communications team, you will work closely with HR and stakeholders to deliver a professional, accurate and efficient payroll service. Join our team and play a crucial role in the health system at a local level.
Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain highly effective relationships to ensure business needs are understoodMaintain up to date and accurate records of payroll transactions ensuring a robust audit and approval trailIdentify and initiate process improvements creating efficiencies in workflowCollaborate with the team and other departments to address payroll inquiries and resolve payroll related issuesRecord payroll entries in compliance with relevant legislation, policies and proceduresProvide guidance, training and assistance for less experienced team membersAbout You With relevant previous experience dealing with complex systems and processes you will be able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in your work, excellent processing skills and an eye for process improvement. You communicate effectively and are most comfortable in hardworking, collaborative teams. You take the initiative to do the things that need doing, while managing multiple priorities. Experience in a high-volume payroll position with an understanding of relevant employment legislation and both individual and collective agreements would also be advantageous.

Be highly organised whilst working in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrate strong attention to detail and high-quality performanceHave the ability to analyse data and problem solveWork well independently yet also be an active contributor within the wider teamCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
