This will include supporting the NZM Risk Steward's work to protect the business through appropriate risk management; ensuring risks are captured, understood and clearly communicated to key internal and external stakeholders as required.
The role will also manage any Risk and Compliance staff based in NZM and support the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with external stakeholders in New Zealand.
The Head of Risk Strategy will act as the enterprise-wide Risk Steward of the RMF and associated local regulatory requirements.This role has a circa of 8 direct reports (including 4 in Australia).Responsibilities:Engage with AUH stakeholder and ensure NZM issues and risk are well covered and managed.Driving a high performing workforce through professional and inspired leadership.Develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with stakeholders including local regulators, industry bodies, auditors, governments, agencies, regional and group colleagues.Making an active contribution in meetings with regulators, EXCo (executive committee) and risk committee forums.Manage a number of complex projects, supporting the implementation of ongoing effectiveness of risk management and associated procedures.Remain up-to-date with industry developments, standards and requirements to ensure HSBC is aligned appropriately.Deliver risk governance for AUH and NZ.Ensure RMF enhancement programmes are appropriately governed, including change management, across AUH & NZ.Build a positive risk and compliance culture through communication and education on risk management and effective role modelling of risk capabilities and corporate values.Maintain oversight on risk and compliance risks and the risk profile within the country and anticipate emerging risks.Provide oversight and support for the effective implementation of the RMF and frameworks to address associated regulatory requirements for AUH & NZ.Requirements:Significant experience in more than one technical risk discipline, ideally within first or second line.Possess outstanding leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, inspire and mobilize teams in a multi-cultural and highly matrixed organization.Significant leadership experience within a global financial services organisation and people management skills to manage onshore and offshore resource.The ability to form effective relationships and exercise influence at the most senior level of the organisation.High level understanding of the regulatory environment as well as financial and non-financial risk across Global Businesses and geographies.Sound commercial judgement, ability to systematically analyse complex information and ability to challenge the status quo.Ability to work in a matrix environment working across different cultures and countries.Tertiary/postgraduate qualifications in Legal, Finance or related field.Have experience working in New Zealand and/or Australia.Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.We value different perspectives, we succeed together, collaborating across boundaries, we take responsibility, holding ourselves accountable to get things done.
