The team also provides reporting and advice to Ministers on the Government's investment portfolio and leads on elements of the Budget process.Korero mo te turanga | About the RoleIn this role we're looking for an enthusiastic and talented Principal Advisor to join us in a key role in the centre of the Investment Management System.
This role has a particular responsibility for working with IMS leadership team and across Treasury to provide high quality investment assurance advice to Ministers to support well-informed investment decisions.
The role includes:Developing a comprehensive understanding of the overall investment pipeline, from strategic intentions to benefits realisation.Leading the development and implementation of bespoke assurance processes and tools.Providing high quality analysis and advice on high-profile high-risk capital investments to Ministers and other stakeholders.Enabling agencies and key stakeholders to easily access and understand the investment standards expected of them and the guidance they need to meet those standards, particularly the assurance requirements.Establishing and maintaining excellent collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.The position is a permanent role based in Wellington.O pumanawa | About YouThis senior position requires a rare combination of skills.
You will have experience of undertaking assurance, preferably in capital investments, coupled with a background in portfolio, programme or project management.You will bring exceptional inter-personal and relationship management skills.
You will have a proven ability to work at a Principal Advisor level, preferably in the New Zealand public sector context.
The Investment Management System team's work is dynamic and can be fast paced at times; you will need to be flexible and be able to work under pressure to deliver quality advice.Specific expertise you will bring include:A track-record of effective communication in both verbal and written form with a variety of stakeholders including Ministers and senior management.Excellent people leadership skills and an ability to collaborate and coordinate with colleagues across a diverse organisation, with experience in leading work programmes.Experience of working in an Enterprise Project/Programme Management Office in the public sector.Ideally a certification in project/programme management methodologies and frameworks, such as PRINCE2 or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).Intellectual curiosity and ability to foreshadow what information or advice decision-makers will need.Understanding of the New Zealand public sector and the investment management system.Ko nga hua | What we OfferThis is an important job and that's why we'll do all we can to support your success.
