Lifeguard | West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre (Henderson) Auckland Council's Pools and Leisure has an opportunity for a Lifeguard position at our busy West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre (Henderson).

Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community.
Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.
As a lifeguard, you are responsible for:
Provide a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customersEducate and enforce pool rulesRespond to any First Aid emergenciesEnsure pool and surrounds are clean at all timesWe are currently looking for a few permanent lifeguards, varying from 12 hours to 40 hours. Our centre operates from 5:30 am - 7:15 pm on weekends and 5:00 am - 10:00 pm on weekdays; the ability to work early night, late night, and weekends is crucial.
We are looking for strong swimmers who are dedicated to helping others and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment.
As a lifeguard, you'll need to stay alert, work well in a team, and provide excellent customer service.
You will also need to have a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) and a current first aid certificate; however, training will be provided.
The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is passing the swim test, which consists of:
Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes (Any stroke, or a mixture of strokes, can be used)Swim 50m breaststrokeRetrieve objects from the deepest part of the pool (depth varies across centres)Tread water for 5 minutesDo not worry if you do not have a PLPC certification; we will provide ALL training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training.
However, you must be available for the LG training from 14 April to 25 April (Weekdays 8:30 am - 4 pm) at West Wave. Starting rate: $27.80/h+ Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
