Stand at the stern of the canoe and feel the spray of the future biting at your face Mo te tunga | About the role This Senior Intelligence Analyst will use advanced tradecraft across all tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence levels to support national security, especially countering terrorism and violent extremism.
The work and subject matter is interesting, nuanced, sensitive, confronting, and critically important to New Zealand's national security.
Threat assessment and profiling is a core task.
The analyst will sometimes work on big intelligence problems and system development but will also be involved in a lot of routine, immediate tasks.
The Senior Intelligence Analyst will usually deal with investigators, but sometimes decision makers to the highest level.
The role is part of a small team but will often work independently, flexibly, with initiative, dealing with ambiguous information and an evolving work situation.
This includes reacting to urgent requirements or changes on occasion.
Enthusiasm, willingness, and a good work ethic will be invaluable attitudes to apply every day in this role.
We are looking for people who are self-motivated, innovative, inquisitive, committed to excellence, resilient, and firmly focussed on enhancing decision-making within NZ Police through the provision of timely, accurate and relevant intelligence.
Key Accountabilities: * Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends in crime, crashes, and community reassurance.
* Lead and collaborate on projects and group analysis.
* Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
* Contribute to a positive team culture.
* Identifies, establishes, and maintains productive working relationships with internal groups, and external domestic and international entities.
* Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems.
* Consider and champion diversity, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all intelligence outputs.
* Is resilient in the face of demanding workloads and confronting subject matter, including objectionable material.
* Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools and coach junior members of the team to develop their Intelligence tradecraft including regular peer review.

* Some domestic travel may be required.
* Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment.
* Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for (Constabulary only).
* For both Constabulary & Police Employees: * Agree to enrol in a leadership program at the advertised level, at a future date or * Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.
Security Clearance Requirements To be eligible for this role, you may be asked to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is: NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or: * A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or * A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
