About the Role
As the Manager - Organisational Planning and Performance, you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering our Long Term Plan (LTP) and managing the organisational performance function. This is a unique opportunity to lead with vision, ensuring that our plans align with strategic direction, stakeholder expectations, and community wellbeing.
In this role, you will:
Lead the development of the Long Term Plan, ensuring strategy-led and legally compliant outcomes in collaboration with the Mayor, Councillors, Rangitane, and Senior Leadership Team.Manage organisational performance, fostering cross-functional coordination across all Groups and Divisions.Act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic and technical advocacy support to the Mayor, Chief Executive, and senior stakeholders.Promote a culture of innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration in all aspects of planning and performance.Oversee critical components such as Vision and Goals, City Strategy, Financial and Infrastructure Strategies, and Budget Prioritisation.What You'll Need Proven experience in leading complex, multidisciplinary projects, ideally in a government or public-sector environment.Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering strategic plans and performance frameworks.Exceptional ability to collaborate, influence, and build relationships across diverse groups, including elected officials, iwi, staff, and external stakeholders.Expertise in strategic planning, organisational performance, and public consultation.A proactive approach to innovation and improvement, with a strong focus on community wellbeing and sustainability.What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits package.Remuneration between $145,986 and $171,748, with a 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution (where eligible).5 weeks annual leave and a community service day every year.A challenging, rewarding leadership role where you'll make a tangible impact on the future of our city and community.A supportive and collaborative work environment with opportunities for professional growth.Flexibility to innovate and shape your role alongside a dynamic, purpose-driven team.Additional long service leave after qualifying periods.Parental leave benefits, including paid partner's leave, and top-up payments.Hybrid working principles.Free access to our on-site fitness equipment.Professional memberships and assistance with study leave and fees.About us Palmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
