Manager - Process Modelling And Continuous Improvement
2 weeks ago
* Join the electricity transmission System Operator, in a new role
* Choose to work in Wellington/Christchurch/Hamilton or Otara Auckland
* Drive improvements through optimising people, process and technology
Champion operational excellence and process efficiency to deliver affordable, high -quality services that enable the energy future.
Transpower's purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.
About the team
Our Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver solutions required to manage the real time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future.
The group plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. The group is working to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.
The OPTI Process Modelling and Continuous Improvement team will provide process modelling and continuous improvement (CI) expertise to our Operations division, monitoring the efficiency of our processes and implementing incremental improvements. By establishing and maintaining an up-to-date process repository and CI capability, the team will lead in process modelling, foster a continuous improvement culture and deliver improvement to Operation's capability continuously.
The opportunity - a new leadership role
In this new role, you'll lead a team of four and play a key role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement within the OPTI team. You'll develop and maintain a professional and consistent mechanism for delivering 'fit-for-purpose' continuous improvement initiatives.
Both leading and being hands-on in CI initiatives, you'll drive enhanced process efficiency and effectiveness to deliver high-quality services while optimising resource utilisation, overseeing the process to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and streamline workflows. You'll foster a culture of continuous improvement across the division.
You'll also manage business and key stakeholder relationships to keep them informed on key process improvement projects that align with investment delivery outcomes.
This is an exciting role with ample opportunity to make a difference, working across the System Operator and beyond. You'll be challenged and intellectually stretched, collaborating with a wide range of people who really care about what they do.
What will you bring?
You'll have strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems, underpinned by tertiary qualifications and a certification in Lean Process Improvement Methodologies, such as Lean Certification or Lean Six Sigma.
To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
* 5+ years' experience in a similar leadership role within an organisation of scale and complexity.
* Significant experience managing technical and operational process streams.
* Your impact on customer-focused delivery outcomes (we love metrics).
* Strong planning, prioritisation, and execution skills, with the ability to manage change, competing priorities, and timelines.
* Highly effective communication, presentation, reporting, analytical, and relationship management skills, including advocacy and influence.
