They specialize in the design, build, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, pressure vessels, gantry cranes, material handling processes, and customer factory and plant improvements.Due to continued growth, they have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with Project Management and Quotation skills to join their collaborative team of Design, Project Engineers, and Fabrication workshop engineers.This is an interesting and varied role that involves time in the design office, workshop, and on job sites. As a Mechanical Engineer within J J Niven Engineering, you will work directly with a diverse range of projects and end-users, preparing quotations and design concepts, undertaking design calculations, doing 3D drafting in SolidWorks, and managing projects on and off-site.The preferred Mechanical Design Engineer candidate will be an intermediate to senior engineer, but graduates who can demonstrate a solid understanding of engineering principles with relatable experience and strengths in design are also encouraged to apply.The ideal applicant will have:NZ Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with ideally at least 8 years post-graduate experienceAbility to attract work, marketing, and quotation experience with mechanical engineering projectsExperience with 3D modeling in SolidWorks & SolidWorks Simulation softwareProven mechanical design ability to complete manual calculations to Design codes, and project management experienceExperience with managing workshop-based projectsExperience with Quality Assurance and H&S ManagementA flexible and positive attitude and be a team playerAbility to multi-task while maintaining a high standard of professionalismAbility to build relationships with clients, contractors, and consulting engineersConsideration will be given to applicants from similar disciplines/experience, e.g., structural or trade-based with suitable analytical ability.J J Niven Engineering Ltd offers competitive remuneration, ongoing training, and support, interesting and varied work within a great team environment.Apply through the online application form or send your CV to Shane Halligan - ****** note: Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand to be considered.
