We work alongside people with intellectual disabilities to design supports that meet their unique challenges, needs, and the life they want to lead. About the role We currently have full and part time positions in our rural Waikato homes, for morning, afternoon, night, and weekend shifts. We are looking for experienced and compassionate support workers to provide supervision, guidance, and practical supports for neurodiverse young men living intellectual disabilities and developmental trauma. Being at the centre of the young men's journey, acting as a service navigator, advocate, supporter, and key conduit for information sharing. Some of the interests of the men we support are basketball, gaining practical skills like gardening, woodwork, driving.There is a desire to develop social skills and literacy throughout their rehabilitative journey,Need for accurate completion of incident reports, progress notes and shift handovers. Hourly pay rates range from $23.15 to $28.25 per hour, depending on whether you have New Zealand Certificates in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent.Successful applicants will join a team that has a strong focus on providing positive outcomes and rehabilitation for people. He korero mou - About You To be successful in gaining a position in the team: You will need to be innovative and have the skills to become a role model and mentor for the young men we support. You will also need the ability to roll with change, as no two days as a support worker are quite the same. Enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude are key requirements. You will need the confidence and ability to manage safety risks and challenging behaviours. You must have a full New Zealand drivers' licence and be a New Zealand citizen or resident.Previous experience in the health or disability sector or mental health support work would be an advantage; however, training is provided to candidates with the right values and skills.
