This is a complex and sensitive area of work that is ever changing, where you'll be advocating for Conservation portfolio interests at meetings with Crown agencies and iwi.
You'll be objectively appraising issues and systems to formulate sound advice through your analysis of advantages and risks; technical feasibility; and policy ramifications.We are a small and very committed team, where you'll have the ability to work autonomously whilst also enjoying a high level of collaboration and relationship building with our partners and stakeholders.
The Senior Advisor will lead on advice, and be responsible for interacting with senior officials and with the Minister.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceYou'll have developed a solid reputation as a trusted advisor, and bring a breadth and depth of experience in negotiations or the Treaty Settlement Process.
In addition, we're interested in the following skills and experience:Experience analysing complex issues to provide advice/recommendationsExperience translating strategy and issues into clear projects and actionsHighly developed written communication skillsExceptional collaboration and relationship management skills, including experience working with senior leaders and tangata whenua.A sound understanding of te ao Maori, tikanga and te reo that enable you to engage and work effectively in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua.In addition, the Senior Advisor will have experience leading on advice, projects and relationships, and have some experience working with leaders in iwi and government.Nga ahuatanga kei a matou | What's in it for you?DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.

Please note which role you would like to be considered for - i.e the Advisor or Senior Advisor.The salary range for the Advisor role is $79,656 - $100,639.
The salary range for the Senior Advisor role is $92,450 - $116,985.
