We provide impartial, evidence-based advice to the Government on mitigating and adapting to climate change. We also monitor progress towards emissions reduction and adaptation goals and report on this publicly.Join the Commission as we expand our efforts from primarily mitigation to a comprehensive approach that includes adaptation, the national climate risk assessment, and monitoring the country's progress on climate action. Be part of this exciting transition as we take on our expanded work program as set out in the CCRA.We recognise the importance of te ao Maori. We uphold the treaty partnership by ensuring our work reflects Maori views and Te Tiriti o Waitangi The Treaty of Waitangi.The General Manager, Evidence and Advice is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team who works closely and collaboratively with other leaders across the Commission.The General Manager has ownership for building the evidence base, expertise, analytical tools, and technical engagement that are a core part of the Commission's statutory deliverables under the CCRA, and anticipates future work for the Commission.Pioneer evidence innovation: Lead the creation and enhancement of the Commission's evidence base and analytical tools, including developing new evidence products that not only underpin our statutory deliverables but also have a standalone impact when released publicly.Engage stakeholders insightfully: Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the rigorous collection, testing, and validation of evidence that enhances our credibility and influence.Champion collaborative leadership: Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and support the Chief Executive in delivering the CCRA work programme, ensuring seamless integration across teams and maintaining a high-performance relationship with the Board.A foundation of trusted evidence is essential for achieving a sustainable, low-emissions and climate resilient future. With a future-focused approach, you'll innovate how the Commission creates and disseminates evidence, maximizing its impact.Leading this business group to develop strong evidence and advice is crucial for driving an evidence-based climate transition and building climate resilience.Nga herenga | The role will involveThis role requires an adept people and thought leader who can assist the Chief Executive in developing a high-performing relationship with the Commission's Board and, as part of the ELT, contribute to enterprise leadership.The GM Evidence and Advice will build constructive relationships through technical engagement with key stakeholders, as you develop and test the Commission's evidence base and build its credibility.As a key member of the ELT, you will actively support and contribute collaboratively to the work of team taking an enterprise view, including contributing to initiatives and deliverables led by others in ELT, where input is needed from across the functional groups and provide quality strategic advice on current and emerging issues, considering associated risks and implications, demonstrating high levels of political savvy.
