General Manager, Evidence and Advice

The General Manager, Evidence and Advice is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team who works closely and collaboratively with other leaders across the Commission. The General Manager has ownership for building the evidence base, expertise, analytical tools, and technical engagement that are a core part of the Commission's statutory deliverables under the CCRA, and anticipates future work for the Commission.

Ngā herenga | The role will involve

  • Pioneer evidence innovation: Lead the creation and enhancement of the Commission's evidence base and analytical tools, including developing new evidence products that not only underpin our statutory deliverables but also have a standalone impact when released publicly.
  • Engage stakeholders insightfully: Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the rigorous collection, testing, and validation of evidence that enhances our credibility and influence.
  • Champion collaborative leadership: Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and support the Chief Executive in delivering the CCRA work programme, ensuring seamless integration across teams and maintaining a high-performance relationship with the Board.

Leading this business group to develop strong evidence and advice is crucial for driving an evidence-based climate transition and building climate resilience.

To be successful in this role you will be a proven practitioner and:

  • A thought leader in your field, across government, private or non-government sectors nationally and/or internationally.
  • An effective manager of leaders, including leading teams to deliver high-quality analysis and modelling.
  • Can successfully build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder's motivations and have the ability to influence and persuade.
  • Understand te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi, Treaty principles, te ao Māori (including tikanga and kawa) and be experienced engaging with iwi and Māori.
  • Have an excellent knowledge of:
    • The government and business environment
    • How to use evidence and analysis to make sound decisions
    • Strategic and risk management
    • Quality assurance systems and processes
  • Have strong knowledge of and experience of a range of research, evidence and analytical methods, including emerging and innovative approaches and frameworks.
