The successful candidate will provide leadership to a team of professionals managing critical services for our community.Within this role, you are expected to work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure asset needs are addressed timely and appropriate funding is available through Council funding or by proactively seeking appropriate grants.
This is a fabulous opportunity to bring our operations together across our district, and it's imperative that you understand people from both a leadership perspective and a customer point of view to collaborate on resolving escalated and complex issues.Your focus will be to:Deliver the capital works programEnsure quality standards are maintainedDrive innovation and continuous improvementProvide technical support for your teamSupport a customer-first cultureAbout youWe are seeking a proactive, confident self-starter who can work under pressure.
You will have well-developed communication skills with a strong customer service focus.
You are enthusiastic, a big picture thinker, solution-focused, and self-motivated.
Your innate ability to manage time will prove invaluable along with your experience working in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and RAMM.Your commitment to making a positive difference, pragmatism, and political astuteness will see you succeed in this role.
Your ability to take both customers and your team on a journey with you is critical.
There will be times when hard decisions and difficult conversations need to take place, and we're looking for someone who can approach these with tact and diplomacy.
Your background is likely to be in contract/project management, and you will have a strong team-based approach and collaboration skills with the ability to engage, build, and maintain strong relationships at all levels.
You'll be known for developing and mentoring your team and creating a positive team environment.
Ideally, you'll be working in the roading/construction industry and have some experience/knowledge of NZ's roading regulations.
