We at Nga Tai Oranga, The Healing Tides are a small multi-disciplinary team based in Newtown, Wellington.
The role is diverse as it involves providing therapies, supervision and consultations, and teaching mental health clinicians about tangata whaiora with severe distress intolerance, relationship and emotional dysregulation that impacts on their life (across the lifespan) and their significant others and whanau.
The people we work with are often conceptualised as having complex PTSD and/or borderline personality disorder.We provide consultation, supervision and advice to mental health service teams.
We offer teaching on emotion regulation skills, formulation, and understanding risk.
We emphasise person-centred compassionate formulations.
We have contracts with other districts and provide regular consultations and teaching to these regions.
This is an opportunity to be part of our dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) programme as a therapist.About the Team/Service/LocationWe are a multi-disciplinary team of seven clinicians and are expanding our service to better meet the needs.
We have two new positions we are advertising for.
We are passionate about working with tangata whaiora who have significant difficulties with emotion regulation, self-identity and relational capacities.
Often this group of people are marginalised and we advocate for compassion, robust formulations, best practice and evidence-informed treatments.Our team works well together because we apply the skills we teach in therapy to ourselves.
We promote open communication and care for each other, because we know that in order to provide effective therapies we need to feel well supported.
The team leader meets regularly with staff to provide support and guidance.
We often work in pairs in our teaching and consultations.About YouWe are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, who enjoys being part of a team and can provide compassionate formulations of the people we work with.The ideal candidate will have: 1.
Knowledge, understanding and experience working with, treating, assessing and formulating tangata whaiora with severe distress intolerance, relationship and emotional dysregulation and, 2.
Experience in evidence-based therapies for treating this group of tangata whaiora including experience in clinically indicated risk taking.While we are ideally seeking an experienced clinical psychologist because of the complex presentations we work with, we would definitely consider a person passionate about our work who is less experienced.
