Working in a team of social researchers, the role examines how bioprotection is envisaged and enacted in Aotearoa New Zealand, as applied to pests, pathogens, and weeds at national, regional and local scales.
The project aims to improve bioprotection governance and empower community-driven stewardship.Some tasks of the role include:Conduct social science research on bioprotection topics.Collect and analyse data using qualitative and/or quantitative methods.Publish research in internationally refereed journals.Present findings at seminars, workshops, and conferences.Provide mentorship to junior researchers and postgraduate students.Build relationships with industry, government, and professional bodies.Two roles available, fixed-term until December 2028, 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE) based on-site at our Lincoln Campus.
Salary: $75,000 per annum, (pro-rated to $60,000 for part time hours).You will have:A PhD in environmental social sciences or related disciplines (e.g., geography, political studies, sociology, anthropology, law).A developing research profile with scholarly publications.An interest in advancing social research in biosecurity and conservation.Familiarity with NZ's resource management system or environmental policy knowledge.Strong research skills in literature review, data collection, and analysis.Ability to collaborate across disciplines and institutions.Commitment to Manaakitaka and Lincoln University values.At Lincoln University, you'll be part of a supportive and inclusive workplace that values diversity and equal opportunity.Ready to apply?
