Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleHere at Christchurch Hospital we are looking for an Advanced Professional Physiotherapist, with knowledge and experience in critical care, to join us in ICU as part of our Cardiorespiratory and Surgical cluster at Christchurch Hospital.In this role you will provide safe and clinically effective patient assessment and intervention with demonstration of advanced knowledge and skills to support the critical care management of patients.
You will be helping to develop the Physiotherapy service in ICU, whilst working alongside interdisciplinary staff and students.
As part of our Cardiorespiratory and Surgical Cluster, you will also work with patients across a range of clinical specialties such as Medical Respiratory, Cardiology, Cardiothoracics, General Surgical, and the Surgical Progressive Unit; and the wider physiotherapy service as required.
This role will assist in developing the clinical capability of others and will provide clinical and/or professional supervision to staff and students.
A key focus will be supporting the upskilling of staff for after hours work.You will be involved in quality improvement activities and creating and/or actively implementing evidence-based practice.
You will be expected to contribute to the on-call roster.In this role, you will be responsible for:Undertaking advanced professional assessments, completing appropriate interventions and providing advice or referring to other services;Training, supervising and mentoring interdisciplinary staff and students;Facilitating and leading service improvements.About YouWe are seeking a dedicated Critical Care Physiotherapist to join the team in this designated advanced professional position.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working in an acute hospital settingDemonstrated experience in critical careDemonstrated leadership abilitiesCardiorespiratory, surgical, orthopaedic and/or spinal skills are advantageousGood understanding of the principles of adult educationExperience in teaching/supervising, training and development of staffAn ability to lead and contribute to interdisciplinary service developmentKnowledge of quality improvement principles and processesAn ability to work unsupervisedCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExcellent communication skills both verbally and writtenWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellnesses'.
