Senior Advisor, Communications and EngagementHe Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission is an independent agency dedicated to driving climate action in Aotearoa New Zealand, with a strong statutory mandate.
We provide impartial, evidence-based advice to the Government on mitigating and adapting to climate change.
We also monitor progress towards emissions reduction and adaptation goals and report on this publicly.
Join the Commission as we expand our efforts from primarily mitigation to a comprehensive approach that includes adaptation, the national climate risk assessment, and monitoring the country's progress on climate action.
Be part of this exciting transition as we take on our expanded work program as set out in the Climate Change Response Act (CCRA).

We uphold the treaty partnership by ensuring our work reflects Maori views and Te Tiriti o Waitangi The Treaty of Waitangi.
The Senior Advisor, Communications and Engagement will drive the end-to-end communications and engagement processes to support the Commission's work programme under the CCRA.
This includes communications advice, planning, content development, and stakeholder engagement.
Nga herenga | The role will involve Communicating complex information in ways that are compelling and can be easily understood, including adapting communication styles to the needs of the situation and audience.Providing communications and engagement leadership and support on a diverse range of projects, ensuring efficient execution and delivery.Delivering stakeholder and engagement communications plans, helping to develop stakeholder engagement and communications tools and templates, and operating as the system owner for identified channels relevant to your role.Preparing speeches, media statements, presentations, commentary, social media content and other materials in a clear and well-structured manner related to specific projects.Support a culture of collaboration and inclusiveness in the team and the organisation.Demonstrating that cultural responsiveness is valued, understood, and applied within the Commission by embedding te ao Maori (te reo Maori, tikanga, kawa, Te Tiriti o Waitangi) into the way we do things.This is a job for an experienced practitioner in their field, across government, private or non-government sectors nationally and/or internationally.
To be considered, you will have proven experience in a senior communications role and a tertiary qualification and or equivalent work experience.
Experience working on issues related to climate change will be an advantage.
In addition, you will have:
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholdersStrong strategic thinking and analytical skillsExperience in product design, publication, and communicationsDemonstrated high levels of integrityKnowledge of the machinery of government, the contemporary political environment and government policies, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Te Ao MaoriExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalHighly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex work environmentHe pehea to tono mai | How to apply Click the apply button below to view a detailed position description and submit your application.
