We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Water Quality or Marine Ecologist with 7+ years' experience to join our Napier team. You'll collaborate with clients across Aotearoa, working on diverse projects that make a real impact in the Hawke's Bay and beyond.
About the role Drive business growth by securing new clients and maintaining strong relationships with existing ones.
Manage technical projects, coordinating teams and subcontractors, liaising with regulators, clients, and stakeholders, and overseeing budgets and invoicing.
Prepare and deliver high-quality technical reports to support client needs.
Develop environmental impact assessments, management plans, and monitoring programs.
Write and present expert evidence at hearings.
Deliver comprehensive project solutions, from initial consultation through to proposal, execution, and successful completion.
Provide and review technical input into resource consent applications.
Uphold and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Collaborate with Senior Scientists and Engineers on complex projects and initiatives.
Enhance professional and company reputation through conference presentations and technical publications.
What you'll bring We're looking for a passionate individual committed to creating environmental solutions and applying their expertise to diverse projects. With your skills and enthusiasm, we aim to deliver exceptional results for our clients. The ideal candidate will have:
A postgraduate qualification in Environmental or Marine Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Natural Resource Management.
Recognition as a contributor to New Zealand marine and coastal science, with a drive to further develop in this field.
Strong commercial and business development capabilities, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
A talent for delivering practical solutions to complex environmental challenges.
A broad scientific background with hands-on experience.
Strong technical report writing, data analysis, and management skills.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
A proactive, collaborative attitude and team-oriented mindset.
Flexibility to work in remote locations and travel within New Zealand when required.
