New Zealand Government – Auckland, North IslandMedical Laboratory Scientist: Haematology and Blood BankPart Time 0.8FTE (64 hours per fortnight)Parental Leave Cover ending October 2025North Shore HospitalTe Whatu Ora Waitemata Laboratory is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our friendly Haematology and Blood Bank team on a fixed term, part time basis. Multiskilling in both Haematology and Transfusion is essential, so work experience in both these disciplines will be an advantage.You must be willing to participate in a 24/7 roster working 64 hours per fortnight including weekends and public holidays.Requirements for this role:Recent experience, within the last year, working or training in a Haematology or Blood Bank laboratoryRecent experience performing peripheral blood films and working knowledge of eTraceline and/or IT3000 would be advantageousNZ residency or NZ citizenship is essentialMS Council Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current annual practising certificate, or working towards obtaining an annual practising certificate by December 2024The successful candidate will have the following attributes:A reputation for a positive and dynamic approach to teamworkDemonstrated initiative for problem solvingAble to deal sensitively with a wide range of peopleProven ability to multi-taskA good eye for detail and ability to pay attentionAble to follow procedures and instructionsProven computer and technology experience and skillReliable, organised and responsible team playerAble to work in a busy environment and prioritise your workload to deliver quality results within set timeframes.To be considered for the position, please apply online via www.wdhbcareers.co.nz, including a copy of your CV and cover letter.
