This Certificate in Maori Governance Level 4 programme will develop skills and confidence for Maori governors within a Kaupapa Maori context, enhancing leadership skills, governance understanding, and preparing for successful succession in governance roles.This is a full-time (37.5hrs per week) fixed term (until 14 December 2025) position based at our Palmerston North campus.
The role involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, delivering quality lessons to tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira progress.
This is one of our innovative pilot programmes, so you will provide ongoing feedback about the course and be supported to deliver a quality educational experience for our tauira.
Some flexibility is required to work some weekends and evenings.You will play a critical role in inspiring and empowering tauira to understand and engage with the principles and practices of Maori governance, deeply rooted in tikanga (customs) and kawa (protocols).
You will be someone who is passionate about fostering a learning environment that respects and elevates Maori values, encourages critical thinking, and cultivates leadership aligned with the mana (authority) and matauranga (knowledge) of iwi, hapu, and whanau.The right candidate will have a passion for supporting tauira success, as well as possess strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and adaptability.Ideally you will:Hold a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Maori / Business Studies or comparative equivalent.Hold a Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent.Have a Certificate in First Aid.Have a Full and current Driver's license (Class 1) required.Have a minimum 5+ years' experience in Maori Governance, Leadership, and/or related roles.Minimum 2+ years adult teaching and/or facilitation.
Whilst teaching experience is highly valued at TWoA, newly qualified Kaiako/tutors with the relevant qualifications but with no or limited previous teaching experience will also be considered for employment.As a kaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities, and develop and uphold ahuatanga Maori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.Kua whati te tai, tono mai
