Energy Project Development EngineerThe Energy Project Development Engineer in Auckland is responsible for effectively identifying strategic energy project opportunities throughout the company and its subsidiaries.
This role is critical in improving and maintaining the cost of production for manufacturing sites, developing new energy initiatives (i.e., wind, solar, battery, demand flexibility), and providing internal/external support for the company and its customers.
This role will have a significant focus on process heat and plant efficiency.ResponsibilitiesActively investigate energy efficiency opportunities for the business to capitalize onStay up to date with emerging technologies and suggest applications for the groupProduce effective energy reports across business unitsProvide fast response – high-level commercial & technical advice during early concept development for energy opportunitiesDevelop detailed business cases and commercial models for new energy initiatives through to a CAPEX applicationContract development and negotiation for energy projectsBuild and maintain relationships with EECA, energy retailers, energy consultants, and major equipment suppliersInternal & External Advisory for the companySupport business development at the company by working with the sales manager to quantify opportunities for customersProvide advisory services to customers to support their development of business cases to convert to wood pellets for process heatContribute to the company's energy development strategy across all business unitsTravel to sites as required throughout New ZealandWhy UsFlexible work hoursTraining providedGreat working conditionsJob security and stability - we continue to operate all year roundExperience RequiredEssentialA tertiary qualification in engineering or similar5+ years of experience with a background in process heat, refrigeration/energy projects used in processing plantsExperience focused on net energy efficiency for processing plantsAbility to manage a junior staff memberAbility to self-start and problem solveProficiency in MS Office SuitePreferredExperience in contract negotiationPrivate sector experience in developing and delivering process heat projectsProficient understanding of electricity contracts and the wholesale market
